Mission Statement

The Revelstoke Community Forest Corporation (RCFC) will manage and operate its Tree Farm in a sustainable manner that will enhance the forest resources while respecting the principles of environmental stewardship, integrated use and public participation.

This is the responsibility bestowed upon RCFC by our Board of Directors and the citizens of Revelstoke.

 

As a profitable, self-sufficient operation, now and in the future, RCFC will provide the following sustainable community benefits:

 

  • responsible forest land stewardship, 

  • achieve third-party certification;

  • local control of resources;

  • local timber processing, including use for biomass;

  • local employment;

  • forestry training and education;

  • outdoor recreational activities, and

  • funds for community development.

 

RCFC is governed by a Board of Directors composed of the mayor, two City councillors, the City administrator and three appointees from the community. The Corporation is funded through the proceeds of log sales.

Road construction, logging, forest management and silviculture activities are put to contract. The goal is to maximize local employment and economic benefit in the community.
